"There is a chicken
sheltering from the rain
at 10th and C street
if anyone happens
to be missing one."
I read this post on my neighborhood's Facebook page 3 days ago. During these hard days. During these hard nights. During this time of fear and sorrow and anger and loss for so many, I've been carrying these silly, lovely words like a prayer. Like a mantra. Like a whisper of something right in an aching world. There is a chicken, sheltering from the rain. And neighbors who help bring someone home.
May we all find shelter. May we all have someone to bring us home. Some day. One day. Please.
